Counter tops are In!!!

My Christmas present came earlier this year! Our counter tops were installed yesterday and they are a thing of beauty!! The plywood we had was a step up from the folding table that precariously balanced on the island for weeks but the granite was worth waiting for. It looks beautiful and we are so happy with the final result. Our work is not done but we are closer . My kitchen should be officially up and running tomorrow!!! My family should be overjoyed that I will finally be able to cook again. We have eaten so much processed food I swear I have extended our lives by at least two years each. We have enough preservatives in us to last a while. I'm lucky I haven't gained 50 pounds!!!

Well I hope to be able to post more often now that most of the major construction is done around here! Love you all and hope as you get ready for the Holidays that the Spirit of Christmas fills your homes!

Two Weeks

A lot of things can happen in two weeks. All the leaves can fall off the trees. I could lose five pounds if I try really hard!!! We could drive to New York and back to Idaho. I could go on a fabulous vacation. We moved in a two week period. I can try to break a bad habit.I could have a kitchen!!! But two weeks is the minimum I will have to wait for a really bad haircut to start to grow out! As if things haven't been chaotic enough around here, I got sheared this week. I was going for a cute short stack and ended up with no hair on the back of my head. It is shaved shorter than Dustin's and long in the front. I was going for Kate's look from Jon and Kate plus 8 but I did not explain myself very well. Natalee I miss you more than ever this week! So now I hope two weeks will be time enough for some hair to grow! All in stride I guess! Hope you are all doing well hope to hear from you soon!!

Sort of in our House

Well we officially moved in a couple of weeks ago, but the house is still a work in progress as I imagine it will be for some time. We are still in many boxes and living basically out of one room. Jason described it best when He said it reminded him of a hotel room. No Kitchen, just a microwave on top of a folding table, toaster oven next to it, paper plates and plastic utensils. Next to that you will find our dining room table, our living room set and the TV. It's a big room thank goodness!! Our bedrooms are set up and we can all at least sleep in our own rooms. I'll post a few pics of the house like this as soon as I get my computer up and running again. Thanks to Jim and Talona for letting me use there computer for the afternoon!
Dustin has done so much work. This last week He finished laying hardwood flooring and it looks great! With help from His dad, Colton and Jason the job got done! We are now waiting for the Kitchen. It should be anytime now! We are so looking forward to it. My hope is that I will be able to cook again by Thanksgiving. Right now if I can't microwave it we don't eat it, unless Grandma has mercy on us and invites us for dinner.
Dustin and I went out to dinner the other night and the conversation went something like this... "You know Chris I have to say you are taking this remarkably well."
"What do you mean?"
" The house situation"
"Why do you say that?"
" Well usually when things are out of place you kind of lose it, I thought things would be worse. You are just doing really well."
All I could do was laugh so apparently I'm taking things in stride and maybe I'm starting to mellow out. Everything doesn't have it's place right now and we are still 0kay. I guess it all comes down to Perspective, I've realized life is good and I don't need to sweat the small stuff. I have a great family and they are all happy and healthy. We truly are blessed.

Before Pics of the House

So I promised I would post pics of the house. Here are a few of our work in progress. We really have done a lot of work on the place. To begin with it was built in the 70's -need I say more? It had popcorn texture on the ceilings and faux Styrofoam beams in the front room. The texture on the walls was different in every room which was quite interesting, but even more interesting was the pallet of colors the previous owners had chosen. If you can tell each room is painted in a pastel color with a primary color version of that same color example: the room Brooke claimed as hers was pink with a very bright red accent wall. The saddest thing we discovered about the house was that the paint colors were chosen in this decade. So there you have it our kitchen should be in by the end of this month and when we are as close to done as possible I will post the after pics! Should be FUN!

You can take the Girl out of NY but U can't take the NY out of the Girl!

Our name Salmonites, I figured this was a blog about me and my family, and I figured I live here now I better own it! So slowly I add orange to my wardrobe and try to get accustom to calling Salmon home!
But New York will always be Home!
I've been having so much fun hearing from all of you and I've spent way too much time on this today!! I'm supposed to be getting ready to move!

Boys turned 9 this week!

It's hard to believe the boys are 9 already! Wednesday was there birthday and yesterday we took them and a couple of friends to place called Qwivels. They played laser tag, rode go-karts and mini golf. It was cold but lots of fun. Dustin had the most fun in the go-karts.
Garrett & Ethan and their friends Ethan A. & Ammon.

Giving this a Try!

Hi there I thought it was time I give Blogging a try! I'm hoping it will be a great way to keep in touch with all of our family and friends! Things are crazy as usual so I hope I can keep up! We bought a house in Mid August and have been remodeling it. We hope to move in some time in the next week or two.
